It is really true that the eyes of the world were on Wisconsin for Election Day.
Cap Times photo director Ruthie Hauge, left, and reporter Erin McGroarty will speak at an event in December about their Election 2024 experiences.
In November, Cap Times photo director Ruthie Hauge traveled to Freiburg, Germany to speak at a panel discussion hosted by the Carl-Schurz-Haus German American Institute, which took a special interest in this year’s election and what was happening in swing states like Wisconsin in particular. In the five weeks leading up to the election, the institute displayed photos of Hauge’s from the campaign trail along with work from other photographers.
Cap Times photo director Ruthie Hauge (left) and John Nichols are pictured while working together on the tarmac at Dane County Regional Airport in March when Vice President Kamala Harris came to Madison to visit.
State government reporter Erin McGroarty traveled with Hauge to Germany to talk about her experiences, and now Cap Times readers will have a chance to hear both of them speak and to see their work. Please join us on Tuesday, Dec. 17 for a free discussion at Arts + Literature Laboratory, 111. S. Livingston St., #100, moderated by Cap Times associate editor John Nichols, who has written extensively about the election himself.
The event is free and will run 7-8 p.m., and there will also be a chance to meet the speakers at a reception beforehand that will be open to Cap Times members. That will take place starting at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Moxy Hotel, 823 E. Washington Ave. Catered appetizers from The Vibrant Veg will be served and there will be a cash bar.
Many thanks to the Arts + Literature Laboratory and FlakPhoto Projects for sponsoring the event.
